The best time to deal with traffic tickets is as soon as you receive them. If you pay the fine, you’re pleading guilty to the offense charged, and in most cases, 2 to 5 points are counted against your license. New York moving violations attorney Barry Jacobson has more than 25 years of experience as a former judge, a former prosecutor, and a defense attorney with driving infractions and traffic tickets of all kinds.

When you engage our law firm to defend you, we’ll use our experience and familiarity with the New York traffic violation enforcement process to resolve your situation on the most favorable terms possible. In some cases, we’ll be able to negotiate with the prosecution to achieve lesser charges or dismissals. In other cases, we’ll be able to save points against your license through accident prevention classes. In all cases, we’ll be on the lookout for defects or mistakes in the citations themselves to eliminate the moving violations from your record.

In some cases, however, it’s possible to reopen the case for appeal of an underlying moving violation citation where there are solid grounds for contesting the original traffic ticket.

In other situations, the basis for the driver’s license suspension might have nothing to do with a moving violation. A driver’s license might be suspended on such grounds as failure to pay a judgment on a lawsuit related to a motor vehicle accident, conviction of any drug crime, or even failure to pay child support. Failure to yield violations that result in a fatal collision or injury accident also result in an automatic suspension of the license.
